Florida Library AssociationThe Florida Library Association (FLA) develops programs and undertakes activities to earn it a leadership position for all areas of librarianship. FLA works with other professional organizations and professions that are relevant to librarianship; provides increasing opportunities for librarians and support staff in Florida to advance their skills so that they can maintain their effectiveness in the new information age; works closely with the information industry, facilitating productive links with the library community; and continues its role as legislative advocate for excellence in all types of library service within the State of Florida and beyond. Each year, FPA purchases a booth to display members’ and others’ books at FLA’s Annual Conference in the spring and has won its “Best Booth” award in the past. FLA member librarians regularly seek out the FPA booth to learn about great new books. It is from FLA’s members (and the members of FAME) that FPA recruits the judges for its President’s Book Awards competition each year.
Florida Association for Media in Education (FAME)FAME is a collaborative, responsive, dynamic network for Florida school library media professionals. FAME advocates for every student in Florida to be involved in and have open access to a quality school library media program administered by a highly competent, certified library media specialist. Each year, FPA purchases a booth to display members’ and others’ books at FAME’s Annual Conference in the fall. FAME member librarians regularly seek out the FPA booth to learn about great new books. |
