Association of American Publishers (AAP)AAP is the premier trade association for the book publishing industry. Its mandate covers both the general and the specific — broad issues important to all publishers as well as issues of specific concern to particular segments of the industry. The Association's “core” programs deal with matters of general interest:
These programs are directed by standing committees of AAP, along with a host of membership services, including government affairs, a broad-based statistical program, public information and press relations. AAP′s divisions and industry-wide committees each deals with a specific market area: general trade and mass market paperbacks; elementary and secondary instructional materials; higher education publishing; Professional and Scholarly Publishing; and the international marketplace. Regular membership in AAP is open to all U.S. companies actively engaged in the publication of books, journals, and related electronic media, including CD-ROM, video tape, computer software, audiovisual material, database and similar products for educational, business and personal use. Details on joining AAP can be found at http://www.publishers.org/main/Membership/member_01.htm. AAP does not offer FPA members a discount in AAP membership; however, it supports FPA by sponsoring educational events and providing speakers. |
